Environment Day
World Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.
Commemorated yearly on 5 June, WED is one of the principal
vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates
worldwide awareness of the environment
and enhances political attention and action.
The day's agenda is to:
1. Give a human face to environmental issues;
2. Empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development;
3. Promote an understanding that communities are pivotal
to changing attitudes towards environmental issues;
4. Advocate partnership which will ensure all nations
and people enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.
The theme for WED 2009 is 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'. It reflects the urgency for nations to agree on a new deal at the crucial climate convention meeting in Copenhagen some 180 days later in the year, and the links with overcoming poverty and improved management of forests.
Our forefathers kept this Environment healthy for us to
live without any troubles, we need to ask ourselves,
what kind of an environment are we going to give our
children to live in.
This is a Tribute to our forefathers who preserved the
environment for their children(us) to live a life
free of pollution, stress and environment problems.
It is a Tribute to the present citizens of the world
who are making the effort. The effort to preserve the
environment & also make good the loss that the humanity has
already incurred due to Global Warming.
And it is a tribute to our Mother Earth who
gave birth &
preserved her children(us) for such a long long time.
And can preserve us for a long time to come.
We all just need to make an effort to not
hurt or damage it.
We are not asking you to save the environment & the whole
world, alone, but atleast make the effort. We should all
make the little efforts, we can collectively save the
environment.
We should all stop the little things that we normally do
which will save the Environment.

> Walking short distances instead of taking a motrocycle or car.
> Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!
> Switching off fans, lights in the home & office whereever
not necessary.
> Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact flourescent
energy saving lamps.
And other such following simple measures, will help us
curb the warming effects in a big way.
We are sure to give our children a better Environment to live
in, if we follow these small & simple measures.
