Apollo Launch
T
oday on the 16th of July 1969, the Apollo 11 mission
lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center(KSC), Orlando, Florida.
Today, on the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission,
we are looking back at its history.
The Apollo 11 was the most ambitious mission
in the history of mankind which also proved out to
be the most path-breaking and
successful missions of the 20th century.
The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on the
Moon.
It was the fifth human spaceflight of Project Apollo
and the 3rd human voyage to the Moon.
Neil A. Armstrong, 39, invented the moonwalk when he
stepped down from the Apollo 11 lunar module.
The mission included Saturn V rocket that took the astonauts out of the gravitational pull of the Earth, the Command Module(called Columbia) which orbited the Moon, and the Lunar Module(called Eagle) which landed on the Moon at the site called 'Sea of Tranquillity'.
